The Missouri Developmental Disabilities' Council seeks to hire a Mental Health Manager.  This is a federally-funded position which will be located in Central Office in Jefferson City, Missouri. 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Coordinates and oversees the planning processes of the Council. Works with Executive Director and other team members to develop strategies, goals and objectives to achieve the mission of the Council.
  • Works with Council members and staff to develop, implement and monitor progress of the Council's strategic plan. Provides written reports to communicate achievements in meeting outcomes and affecting systems that impact people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Identifies and researches issues which may have implications for statewide program development, develops standards, makes recommendations for policy/procedure developments and/or revision and advocates for changes as appropriate.
  • Serve as the lead for the Council, in addressing health and dental care efforts to ensure individuals with I/DD will be able to make informed choices to live a healthy lifestyle and receive best practice, quality health care just as other non-disabled individuals in the community.
  • Develop, coordinate and direct major grants for innovative systems change projects in areas related to the health and dental care objective and goals in the Council's state plan and critically review applications, lead a team in identifying the strongest proposal, provide on-going monitoring of activities and budgets and evaluate the end product for systems change and as a basis for follow-up proposals to sustain and expand initial system change efforts.
  • Directs or assists in the general management of policy development, program planning, coordination and evaluation of policies, organizational changes and new programs.
  • Responsible for training, supervising and evaluating staff.
  • Prepare plans, evaluates demonstration programs and coordinate tracking of data/outcomes of Council projects and provides written reports to communicate achievements in meeting outcomes and affecting the DD services systems.
  • Works with Council members and staff to develop annual work plans based on the Council's strategic plan.
  • Ensures that strategies, goals, objectives and plans are continually reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect changes in applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or trends.
  • Serve as the Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Take on leadership roles on statewide task forces, boards and other groups to advance the Council's agenda for systemic change in the priority area of health and dental care.
